The 1966 Dodgers season had every transistor radio in Southern California tuned to Vin Scully's masterful narration, with Sandy Koufax and his agonized arm pitching the Dodgers to a narrow final game pennant win over classic rivals the San Francisco Giants. Never was there a more dramatic end of season.

In true Dodger fashion, the Bums lost four straight to Baltimore in the World Series. The lovable losers of Brooklyn had brought their curse and blessing westward, where it has thrived in Los Angeles ever since.

"Drysdale, Sutton & Koufax" is a love letter to the era by country rock miscreants Dembowski, Waller & Lacques -- a coming together of friendly rival L.A. bands I See Hawks in L.A. and Old Californio. Songwriters Rich Dembowski, Rob Waller, and Paul Lacques have shared a strikingly similar lyrical take on their beloved hill, desert, and funky bungalow environs, and shared many a stage up and down the Golden State.

Dembowski, Waller & Lacques are releasing this single as a free download on Dodger home opening day, to all fans of home team baseball everywhere, win or lose. As Vin says: it's time for Dodger baseball!

Drysdale, Sutton and Koufax
Crowd the plate and they'll brush you back
Step on every sidewalk crack
Drysdale, Sutton and Koufax

Eternal loser, go west young man
The boys of summer are at it again
Wrecking ball swinging at Ebbets Field
Bulldozers and screaming, Chavez Ravine

And there once was a time that it meant something
It was more than a game, more than a field of dreams
You could tell the pulse of a nation
By the game and the way we played it

Drysdale, Sutton and Koufax
Never had time to relax
Step on every sidewalk crack
Drysdale, Sutton and Koufax

Holding tight to my daddy's hand
Down the tunnel towards the light of the stands
Vin's tenor slices through the air
20,000 transistors know he cares

Give me one more run, I'll get you a tie
Give me two more runs, I'll sneak us on by
Give my grandma a reason
To smoke, drink, and live out season

It's the first of July, sitting in my chair
The rainbird birds sings in the thick summer air
Turn on the dial to hear Vinny's call
“It's time for Dodger baseball”
Drysdale, Sutton and Koufax
Drysdale, Sutton and Koufax
To Johnny Roseboro
